Built back in 1461 as a hunting lodge for the Salzburg prince archbishops, the resort on the picturesque turquoise waters of Lake Fuschl has been the setting for legendary hunts and royal gatherings for centuries. Over the years, the estate has played host to an illustrious society, including famous film stars such as Romy Schneider, who shot several scenes from the legendary Sissi film trilogy here.
Since its transformation into a luxury hotel in 1947, the estate has attracted worldwide attention for its beauty. As Rosewood Schloss Fuschl, the castle has shone in new splendour since 2024, with every design element paying homage to the rich history and beautiful nature of the surrounding mountain region.
The public areas, the Asaya Spa and the guest rooms were designed by the international design firm G.A Group. The designers found inspiration for the design in the changing colours of the different seasons. The guest rooms and suites also feature hand-painted minibars – designed by Austrian artist Marie Hartig – whose work was also inspired by the natural surroundings.
In this way, tradition and modern luxury merge harmoniously. The Heritage suites and rooms in the historic tower as well as the chalets were designed by Austrian architects Bauer Stahl ZT GmbH.
All six catering facilities in the hotel were designed by the Munich-based interior design studio DiPPOLD Interior Design Studio
