
“The Indigo Vienna is the first of its kind in Austria,” says Erich Bernard from BWM Architekten, describing the first branch of the British boutique hotel chain IHG in the Danube metropolis. A key feature of this operator is to bring guests closer to the respective city district.
Indigo draws on the full potential: The address is not only characterized by the multicultural Naschmarkt, but also by the local “Chinatown”. East Asian red accents and rooms with tropical wallpaper motifs are now reminiscent of this. The Viennese wickerwork appears again as a carpet motif and in floor lamps.
Another special feature is the modern interpretation of the surrounding arcades in the inner courtyard, typical of Biedermeier Vienna.
The framed floor tiles from Otto Wagner’s era, the so-called Viennese tiled parquet, which can be found in traditional Viennese hallways, are given a new lease of life here
