Surrounded by historic buildings with stone walls typical of Scotland, Market Street is an ultra-stylish nest in the heart of Edinburgh. Design studio FG Stijl has created here an original as well as extraordinary hotel of sophisticatedly smooth, yet hard, undisguised beauty.
To preserve Edinburgh’s historic heritage, the architects used stone in a variety of ways – the material is sourced from within 90 miles of the hotel and is a good visual match for Edinburgh’s historic Craigleith sandstone, which is now in limited supply. Inside, lots of natural wood and warming textiles perfectly balance the archaic feel.
